REGAINING IDENTITY
Recently I saw a woman in my rooms for her 6-month post-operative appointment. She is a mum with 3 young children and had lost most of her breast tissue following her pregnancies and breast-feeding.
She had undergone a breast augmentation to restore size and fullness.
I asked her what difference the procedure had made to her. She said, “When I became a mum, I lost my identity. I am now a woman again!”
She went on to say that she loves her children dearly, yet had felt like an accessory, primarily existing for the children’s benefit. Now she felt more confident, more feminine and more sexy.
I loved how she expressed it. Cosmetic surgery for a mother is about restoring her pre-pregnancy body. When she achieves that, she regains her confidence and her identity…as a woman.
